I am pleased to announce the first ever old_school_clex fiction challenge.

Sign-ups will be from now until 30 April

The challenge will close and your fics should be posted on 1 June. There will be no voting for this challenge.

Thanks to all those who suggested prompts. We've got quite a good selection here. Some of them are very much open to interpretation whilst others are more specific.

The timeframe for the fics, in keeping with the community, should be Seasons 1-3. I think that would make Clark's age 15-17 or 16-18 (no one is sure how old he's supposed to be in Season 1). I know some people aren't comfortable writing sex scenes when Clark is underage but the fics don't need to be of a sexual nature. Pre-slash or just kissing and snuggling is fine if that's what you're comfortable with :)

There is no word count limit for this challenge. If you want to write something small, then that's fine and if you want to write an epic that's cool too :)

Other pairings are welcome in fics so long as Clark/Lex is the primary one

If you want to write more than one story that's fine but I would ask that you only use one prompt per story.


1. School field trip
2. Detention
3. An interview for The Torch
4. School project
5. Lex tutors Clark
6. Clark takes Lex to the movies
7. Clark gets an after school job
8. Chloe/Lana/Pete/Whitney (you choose) play matchmaker with Clark and Lex
9. Farmer's market
10. Clark teaches workaholic Lex how to relax and take a break
11. Ending lines of movies (take the final line of your favourite movie and work it into the story)
12. Clark gets an internship at Lex's plant
13. Clark gets his first computer
14. Clark tells Lex he did hit him on the bridge and that he doesn't understand why he's still alive (in shock).
15. Jonathan, Clark and Lex trapped somewhere together.
16. Clark finds himself in a dangerous situation and Lex helps him out. Or it could be an embarrassing situation with a humorous approach.

This is really tough.

I like 11, 14 and 16. I'd be an idiot to sign up for more than one because I'm going to owe stories for my Harlequin poll and 2 for CLFF. Plus LOE and ATAP.

So I closed my eyes and picked *wipes fingerprint off screen* and going with 16 Clark finds himself in a dangerous situation and Lex helps him out. Or it could be an embarrassing situation with a humorous approach.

the only SV fanfic i've written has been tiny bite-sized things to work out teensy plot bunnies, and almost no one has seen them. well, and then i did that one for absolut_lex, and it was AU. so this'll be a little scary to me, especially since some of my favorite stories are along these lines. i'll be afraid of accidental plagiarism!

hmmmm. i have a weakness for e-mail stories, so i'll say #13. hope i can begin to do it justice!

I have a couple of questions:

1) Can I pick a prompt that has already been chosen or should I pick one that that no one has picked yet? (If I can pick a prompt that's been taken I would like #16. If not, no worries. I'll just figure something else out. :) )

2) I'm assuming that since this is a a community centred around the first three seasons that the fic should be set during that time. However, I'm uncomfortable writing anything sexual with an underage Clark, so I was wondering if I can sort of fudge his age and pretend that he was held back a year or two? (Also, this would help explain why he looked about 20 when he was supposed to be 15. :P )

Oh my, I am so torn between 7 and 8. These are great prompts. I have a question before I decide - are there specific age ranges for Clark and Lex for these stories? And I still have to finish my HP/SV xover and still others. Anyway, if you could help with my question, I can make a quick decision whether I will participate.
