Comment fic meme

Morning folks!

First of all I must apologise for being an absent mod recently. Luckily for me you have all been awesome and not posted anything that doesn't belong here.

Anyway, I've been meaning to do this for a while to get people interested and talking again so here we go

THE [livejournal.com profile] old_school_clex COMMENT FIC MEME

How it works:
01. Comment to this post with your prompt. Be as specific or unspecific as you like.
For example: 'Homework' or 'Lex catches Clark spying on him skinny dipping'
02. Please remember that this is an old school Clex comm so nothing from canon that goes beyond the end of season three
03. Post as many prompts as you like - but one prompt per comment only, please!
04. If your fic goes beyond the limit of one comment please reply to part one of your fic with part two etc
05. If you find a prompt that strikes your fancy, jump in and write some comment fic for the prompt poster
06. More than one comment fic response to a prompt is absolutely acceptable.
07. Tell your friends to tell their friends to come and join the fun, add a prompt, write a fic and leave some love for the authors!
08. Play nice - no flames, no bashing is allowed here! If I see a rude comment to a prompt or a fic repsonse, I'll delete it without further warning.

Go forth and have fun!

Part one (kind of scary)

A rough but manicured finger rubbed back and forth over the soft, smooth skin of Lex's upper lip. Bored. Hot. Sleepy. The ultimate failing of living in a castle was the ventilation system. Lex's loft in Metropolis was infinitely more comfortable at any point in the year.

Just then, the Warrior Angel theme played on Lex's cell phone.

"Clark?" Lex perked up and raised his brows as he leaned back in his chair.

"Um, Lex?" Clark's tremulous voice asked. "Could you come over please? I… need you."

Lex straightened up immediately. "What's wrong? Where are you?"

"I… I um… At the house… Gosh, Lex, there's a-"

Lex heard the phone clacking to the floor as though dropped and a startled cry from Clark. He stood abruptly.

"Clark? Clark!" He was out the door and into his car before he'd thought about how he was going to deal with whatever was threatening Clark. A gun would have been helpful.

Pulling up in front of the Kent farmhouse, Lex leapt out of his car and rushed up to the front door. He peered in the window cautiously before opening the front door and slinking inside. Walking slowly, he kept his eyes sharp for anything amiss. That was when he heard a soft, unhappy moan from Clark.

"Just, please go away!" It was coming from the kitchen.

Lex slipped up to the door and slowly looked around the corner. Maybe he could use Mr. Kent's gun-

"Son of a…" Lex gaped as he spotted what had Clark so freaked out. "What the hell is that?"

Clark looked back from the chair he was perched on with wide, hopeful eyes. "Make it go away?"

Staring in disbelief, Lex shook his head and raised his hand. "Just back away from it. Come with me."

"I'm not getting down until that 'thing' is gone. Wolf spiders jump!" Clark replied in a pained and embarrassed voice.

"Wolf… spider?" Lex blinked at the enormous, hairy spider that was at least the size of Clark's hand. It seemed content to chill on the blue and gray patterned tile of the kitchen floor, but Lex found himself frozen where he was. He'd never seen a spider that big before. Not even close. The city spiders at his loft in Metropolis were cute, by comparison. "Christ."

"Unnnn…" Clark whined.

Lex stiffened his lower lip. He could hardly leave Clark up there. The young man was afraid of heights. He rolled up his sleeves. "Hold on."

"Don't leave!" Clark pleaded as Lex darted out of the room.

Lex returned holding a broom and scanned the floor again quickly. "Alright, beastie. It's time to head on home."

"Careful, Lex." Clark averted his eyes as Lex approached the horrifying spider with determination.

"Go. Go on. Move. Ah! FUCK!"

Clark swiveled around and spotted Lex grabbing a four-quart pot from the dish drainer.

"Are you okay, Lex?"

"It bit me."

"Lex?"

"I'll pay for the pot," Lex said simply as he closed in on the monstrous spider that was now scurrying for the corner.

A clanging sound rang out as Lex slammed the pot down on the spider with all of his strength.

Clark swallowed. "Is… Is it?"

"Squashed flat. It's safe." Lex curled his lip up, and dropped the pot in the trash. "That is disgusting. Is it a mutant?"

"Uh, no. Well, it's not the size that's strange." Clark lifted his chin and looked over the floor, just to check, before he tentatively lowered a foot onto the floor. "Wolf spiders get pretty big. Usually they stay out in the garden, though. Dad'll have to check the house for places it might've gotten in."

"I have to say, as a city boy, this experience has rather unsettled my foundations." Lex looked up to Clark and put a hand on his bicep. "You alright?"

"Uh, yeah, I guess. I feel kind of silly." Clark looked down at his shoes.

Lex grimaced and rubbed Clark's arm. "Are you kidding? That spider was a force of nature."

Clark laughed softly. "Uh, yeah, I guess."

"You still feel jumpy? I feel like my skin is crawling. Why don't we get out of this room for a little bit?" Lex suggested.

Part Two

Clark nodded enthusiastically. Curling up on the sofa sounded like a really good idea right now. He and Lex moved towards the living room together at a motivated pace, but just as they entered the room, Lex sunk into Clark's side, and Clark's arms wrapped around him quickly.

"Whoa. Lex?" Clark looked down on his friend with worry. "You okay?"

"Fine. Just… fine."

"Yeah, right." Clark supported Lex as the moved to the sofa, and he eased them down together, pulling Lex almost into his lap. He looked a little pale. " Lemme see that bite?"

"Those monsters can't be very poisonous," Lex scoffed. "They have size on their side. Compared to the black widow, which is actually rather tiny, the venom should be inversely proportional to ah… size."

"Most spiders have venom. The big ones like that can take out a dog." Clark held Lex's forearm out with a frown. There was a knot the size of a goose egg swelling up on his arm. "We need ice."

"I'd really rather not move."

"You don't have to. I'll get the ice, my spider warrior."

Lex laughed as Clark slipped of the sofa and headed back into the kitchen. He returned a moment later with a bag of ice and a towel, and snuck back under Lex, cradling him to his chest.

"Okay, let's put this on. How do you feel?" Clark pressed the icepack to Lex's arm.

"I'm alright. I promise."

"So brave."

"I am your spider warrior."

"Yeah, you are. I know I shouldn't be scared of them. It's so silly."

"I beg to differ. I think that is one of the most justified irrational, instinctual responses I have ever encountered. I'll come kill your spiders anytime. Next time I'll bring my handgun, though."

Clark smiled and blushed, then pressed a kiss to the side of Lex's head. "You did great."

"Tell your mom I'm sorry about the pan."

"She's going to laugh at us. Two big guys afraid of a spider. She just shoos them outside, and the smaller ones, she picks up in her hands to drop in the garden."

"Your mother is a freak." Lex laughed softly and laid his head against Clark's warmth.

"I think she is. Made of tougher stuff than us."

"Mm."

"How's the arm feel?"

"It's throbbing, but not so bad." Lex paused a long moment. "It's worth it."

"I'm glad."

"You're worth it. I wouldn't go to war against giant mutant spiders for just anyone."

Clark dragged his tongue over his lower lip slowly as his lips spread into a wide smile.

"Good."

OMG! His phone plays Warrior Angel when Clark calls! Hee! I loved this. This was sweet and sexy, just like Clex should always be.

Yup, that is a completely rational, irrational fear alright. I hate spiders too. I like how Lex says he'll be Clark's spider rescuer anytime. So sweet! Well done. Mine's kind of stalled, so I'm glad someone else wrote this prompt. It was a fun one.

Spiders are horrifying beasts. Especially wolf spiders. About two moves ago, we were living in this terrible shack of a house with no insulation, and they would get into my housemate's room and just chill in her mess. Once I was trying to mow the lawn and spotted on on the side of the house. I moved and I screamed so loud that I'm genuinely surprised that our neighbors didn't call the cops (although they were probably stoned, so...)

Hee. Thank you. Lex Luthor, Spider Killer! It's always good if your boyfriend will serve in that necessary capacity. :D

I LOVE the idea that Clark would freak out over a giant spider - and city boy Lex's reaction was great too. Well done!

Thank you. Really, I think that even if I had superpowers, I'd still be horrified by wolf spiders. It's something practically instinctual for some of us. In a year or so, Clark'll get heat vision, and he can fry them from afar. Or blow them away!

I can really relate to this. I have such a bad fear of spiders that I used to wake my brother up at 2 am to come and kill one I found on my wall above my bed. I sat bolt upright and knew the sucker was there. Of course bro wasn't happy about being woke up.

I'm glad your Lex protected Clark and then Clark got the chance to take care of him. It was very sweet.
