Thanks! Season 6 is my first season of Smallville.
The story of Clex is important and I really enjoy the icons posted and the memories of early Clex.
In TV Guide, viewers/fans had a chance to ask a question (mine was one picked, but it wasn't about Clex, so I won't bring that up here). One did have a good question to Gough and asked if he really thought the show represented the 'stuff of legends' friendship of Clark and Lex. Of course, he thought so, but the person that asked the question really had a great point that the show really seemed to have dropped the ball on that. Even Steven DeKnight, who is not coming back for Season 7, said that he enjoyed writing about Clex the most out of all the characters and that he wishes that in the next season that they are forced to work against a common foe. I wish that too, because Clex deserves that.
Yeah, I mean we all knew that at some point Clark and Lex were going to end up as enemies but it seems to have happened rather suddenly and for no real reason
I'd love to see them working together again in Season 7 but I don't think it will happen
It's interesting that DeKnight came in just when the Clex relationship really took a big hit (season 4). It really would have been interesting to see how he would have written a pre-rift Clex rather than a post-rift one.
I just thought it was kind of interesting watching the "Reunion" episode this week to see how Lex screwed up having a friend the first time and how he really tried hard the second time around with Clark. I'm not making excuses for Lex's choices, as they're really all his, but it seems as if he's had the deck stacked against him in a lot of ways: his upbringing which included Lionel as a father; his difference after the meteor shower; and the wealth that while it covered a lot of sins, also made it easy for him to coast and get into trouble in Metropolis when he was older. This guy is also *lonely* and really latched onto Clark as a friend in Smallville. Sigh. The lost opportunities! :)
I really think that we what we've seen in the show indicates that Lex really needs Clark to help him stay on the straight and narrow, so to speak, and Clark needs Lex to help him feel special in a good way, not in a different way. They're both pretty lonely guys who have really missed the relationship boat! :)
That's the tragedy of it all. I really think if they'd both been honest with each other from the start they could have been great friends and a good influence on each other instead of drifting apart they way they have
That's what I keep saying. And lamenting. The "what if". If Clark had just trusted Lex and Lex had let Clark trust him, it would've done wonders for there relationship.
And now Clark has lost Lex and Lex has lost himself. I just really wish the writers/producers/PTB had just decided to go completely AU from comic/movie canon and made Lex good. It's depressing to watch after season 3.
I haven't even watched season 6 at all. I'll just wait till it comes out on DVD and watch it then.
I'm not sure how I'll handle it. But I'm a completeist. I HAVE to watch it. But I don't think the DVD's will get much use after the first time through.
