Next May, the exclusivity period for my last SV zine, "His to Hold", expires, and I will be putting the contents up here for public viewing, as I did with "The Oak and the Cypress". All the chapters are ready for posting, and once I have everything together, I hope to have the completed zine up by mid-June.
However, as it stands, "His to Hold" is without illustration. There are letters in it, which I have created as .jpg's, in order to retain the various typefaces that were used in the printed zine, but no actual pictures, and I would really like to have something nice for readers to look at as they read. So, here's the challenge :-
-"His to Hold" is an NC-17, Clex, slash, AU novel. It is set in England, between 1821 and 1826.
- If anyone is interested in illustrating this, please leave a comment below, with an email address, and I will mail you a short extract of the text, one of the more explicitly (non-sexual, though) descriptive passages.
- Everyone who comments will receive the same extract.
- You will have until 15th December to provide me with an illustration of that scene. You may take any aspect of it, any angle, that you wish.
- Once I have seen all the entries, I will make my choice, and send the artist the complete text.
- I will be looking for 15-20 illustrations in all (more, if you're really inspired! :-) ), including the sample one (unless you'd rather not). However, you need not feel obligated, in any way, to illustrate the couple of sex scenes there are.
- I will need all illustrations completed and received, preferably in .jpg format, by 1st June 2008.
- No image created for "His to Hold" is to be published before the publication of the novel here on my LJ, but after that, the artist is free to do as s/he pleases with the images.
First of all, I'd like to say thank you, profusely, to anyone who expresses an interest in this challenge. I'm doing this in advance, because the artist who ends up collaborating with me on this project is going to find that I'm a picky b****. I can't draw to save myself, yet I have some very clear visual images in my head, and I'm looking for something that will at least come close to those. I will whinge, and noodge, and generally (probably) make a nuisance of myself, until things are perfect. I will tell you that the costumes aren't right, that the period looks wrong, that this building or room wasn't meant to look that way, and you will want to drop me in boiling oil. That said, I will never be rude about it. You have a talent I can only dream of, and I'm extremely grateful to anyone who even wants to make the effort.
